Enhanced parametric shape descriptions in PGD-based space separated representations

Abstract Space separation within the Proper Generalized Decomposition—PGD—rationale allows solving high dimensional problems as a sequence of lower ones. In our former works, different geometrical transformations were proposed for addressing complex shapes and spatially non-separable domains. Efficient implementation separated representations needs expressing domain product characteristic functions involving space coordinates. case shapes, more sophisticated are needed to map physical into regular one where computations performed. This paper aims at proposing very efficient route accomplishing such separation. A NURBS-based geometry representation, usual in computer aided design—CAD—, is retained combined with fully representation allying efficiency (ensured by representations) generality (by geometries). Some numerical examples considered prove potential methodology.
